Columbia - The family of Jacquelyn Lewis "Jackie" Ford will receive friends Tuesday 6-8 p.m at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in Green Sea Cemetery, Green Sea, with visitation to follow in the fellowship hall of Green Sea Baptist Church. Memorial service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Trenholm Road United Methodist Church preceded by visitation at 10 a.m. in the church parlor.
Mrs. Ford, wife of the late David F. Ford, died Sunday, July 8, 2007. Born in Green Sea, she was the daughter of the late Herbert H. and Cornie Harrelson Lewis.
A certified registered nurse anesthetist, she was a graduate of the Baptist Hospital School of Nursing and McLeod's Medical School for Anesthesia. Recruited by the Navy Reserve Nurse Corps for her skills as a nurse anesthetist, she served as a lieutenant during Desert Shield/Desert Storm and was assigned to Naval Hospital Beaufort Unit 307.
Mrs. Ford was employed with Dr. Charles F. Crews for twenty-six years and for twelve years at the VA Hospital in Columbia. She retired after six years with Providence Eye Center.
Mrs. Ford was a member of Trenholm Road United Methodist Church and the Friendship Sunday School Class.
Surviving are son, David Francis Ford., II of Columbia; daughter and son-in-law, Susan F. and Pat Philipoom of Columbia; brother and sister-in-law, Clayton and Mary Alice Lewis of Charlotte, N.C.; grandchildren, Jacquelyn Bessett "Bess" Philipoom and John Ford Philipoom; nephew, Hugh B. Lewis and his wife, Barbara, of Charlotte; great-nephews, Justin and Hunter Lewis; and extended family, Mary and Charles Russell of Columbia and the Willmore Brisbon family of Green Sea.
