Norman B. Matthews, 94 years old, passed away at the Western Hills Nursing Home on May 26, 2011 with the loving care of Alpha Omega Hospice and the nursing staff of Western Hills.

He was a farmer and rancher, and retired from Comanche County Electric Cooperative after 26 years. He was also a World War II Veteran, having served in Alaska for 2 years, and Fort Benning, Georgia, the last two years.

He is survived by his wife of over 65 years, Ruth Merle Matthews; his son, Tim Matthews; sister, Inez Fisher; sister-in-law, Pauline Hall; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David Hilery and Ada Jane (Beene) Matthews; his 2 sisters, Zue Smart and Gladys Power; and 2 brothers, Gerald and Odis Matthews.

Graveside services were held at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Bro. Ray Seckinger officiating on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at 10 a.m. A family visitation was held 9-10 a.m. at the Heartland Funeral Home of Comanche. Judge Robert J. Arthur sang for the service, and the pallbearers were Jerry Pyburn, Randy Denning, Brett Keith, Billy Henry, Jackson Bratton, and Weldon Hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ministry of your choice.
