Hake's Farm and Seed Service owner
WINTERSTOWN - J. Perry Hake, 86, of Winterstown, died at 5:45 a.m. Sunday at York Hospital. He was the husband of Martha L. (Mellinger) Hake. The couple observed their 67th wedding anniversary June 27. The service will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Home Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. Burial will be in Winterstown United Brethren Cemetery. Visitation will be 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. There will be no viewing. Mr. Hake was born Jan. 4, 1914, in Winterstown. He was the son of the late Howard L. and Orella M. (Flinchbaugh) Hake. He owned and operated Hake's Farm and Seed Service in Winterstown, retiring in 1981; after retiring, he continued to work part-time at the store until 1985, at which time he had worked in the agricultural field for more than 50 years. He was a member of Bridgeway Community Church, formerly the York Gospel Center; he was a former Sunday school superintendent at Winterstown Evangelical United Brethren Church for several years. He was a 1931 graduate of Red Lion Area High School. Mr. Hake also is survived by two sons, Robert L. Hake of Winterstown and David P. Hake of Dallastown; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. Mr. Hake was preceded in death by a son, Mervin Leon Hake. Officiating at the service will be his pastor, the Rev. David B. MacKenzie, and the Rev. Donald E. Hurlbert. Memorial contributions may be made to Fellowship of International Missions, 555 S. 24th St., Allentown 18104-6666.
