Frank married Zillah Haynie on Christmas Eve 1822.
Zillah wrote in her journal-
...the moaning winds over a hill some hundred miles distant, where now the plow share passes but which was once a forest whose descent you my beloved Francis came very near losing your life. I had been to a prayer meeting and was returning, riding an unshod horse. He fell and rose repeatedly, until at length you and I were thrown over his head and the print of his hoof was left as near your head as was possible not to wound.
