Mrs. Bertha Agnes Akin, daughter of the late Mr. Eligh Milby and Mrs. Frances Corum Milby, was born June 27, 1884, in Green County and departed this life at 8:15 p.m. Saturday, December 20, 1975 at the Summit Manor Nursing Home in Columbia. She was 91 years of age. She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Quisenberry Methodist Church at the time of her death. She united in marriage to Mr. R. C. Akin in 1900 and he preceded her in death February 11, 1944. To this union were born one son and two daughters. Surviving are Mrs. Frank Turner, Greensburg, and Mrs. Gladys McCarty, Louisville. Harry Akin preceded his mother in death in September 1971. Mrs. Akin is also survived by two brothers: Charlie Milby, Dayton, Ohio, and Roscoe Milby, Greensburg; two sisters: Mrs. Ida Davis and Mrs. Maude Marr, both of Greensburg; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, Tuesday, December 23, [1975] at 10 a.m. by Rev. Gilbert Larimore. Burial was in the Greensburg Cemetery. Pallbearers: Frank Vaughn, D. J. Davis, Jimmy Turner, Junior Milby, James Marr, H. L. Foster, Joe Turner, O. L. Coffey, and Hobart Judd.
