Canadian politician and jurist. Born in Saint-Édouard (Québec), on November 26, 1857. He studied at the College of Montréal and after that at the Laval University in Montréal. He was admitted to the Bar of the Province of Québec on July 14, 1879. He received his doctorate in Law from the Laval University in 1882. He was created Queen Counsel in Law on June 9, 1899. He acted as President of the Catholic schools Board of Montréal from May 1919 to June 1928. In 1886, he was elected as the Liberal representative of Napiervilleto the Legislative Assembly. He did not represent himself in 1890. He was professor of civil and Roman law at the Laval University in Montréal from 1888 to 1930, and became also secretary of the Law Faculty from 1890 to 1914 to finally becomeDean of this faculty from 1920 to 1930. He was judge at the higher Court of the district of Montréal on August 31, 1906 and judge at the King’s Bench Court on December 22, 1922. He retired in 1932. He was also active in the Temperance League and various social organizations like the Numismatic and Antiquarian Society and the Saint-Jean-Baptiste Society.
