He migrated to San Francisco in 1942 seeking better job opportunities and was later joined by his wife. His prosperity included employment at the United States Naval Shipyard, Baker and Hamilton Company, John Deere Company and the U.S. Steel Company where he was employed as a Welder. Being skilled as a Carpenter, Horice was able to establish his own home remodeling business which he maintained until 1989.
As his civic duty, he served as an Auxiliary Policeman for the City and County of San Francisco.
He leaves to mourn, one daughter, Linda; two sons, Jimmie and Horice, Jr.; sister, Artelia Oaks; step-mother, Allie Tillery; one daughter-in-law, Delores; two grandsons, Daryl and Darwin; one granddaughter, Darice; a loving companion, LaJoyce Both; several nieces, nephews, cousins, a host of other relatives and many loving friends.
