St. Paul, Vols. I, II & III
Harriet Duncan Munnick
Binford & Mort, 1979
pp. A-13 -- A-14
Caillé, Paschal - dit Biscornet 1791-1854
Caillé came from Montreal to the Northwest in 1820, settled on a claim north of the later village of Donald in 1845 and became a naturalized citizen. His wife was Louise, a Cowichan from the Fraser River. Their older children, Francois, Henriette and Rose, were baptized at Fort Vancouver, and another child, Moise, died there, although the entry for his death is at St. Paul. A son Joseph was baptized at St. Paul, while for Adelaide, who died at age of seven, and for Sophie no birth records have been found. Caillé died in 1854, aged about 63. His wife Louise outlived him by thirty years, dying at St. Louis on June 8, 1883, "aged about 100 years".

Caillé, Rose
Rose Caillé, married William McKay, son of John McKay, the "McKy Rouge", at St. Louis in 1857 and reared a large family, whose records may be found in the parish register there. William McKay died at Gervais in 1877, two years later a son Edward, father unknown, was born to his widow at that place.

Caillé, Sophie
Two sisters married two brothers in 1857 when Sophie Caillé, sister of Rose, married John McKay II, brother of William at St. Louis. In the next thirty years Sophie bore fourteen children whose records appear until 1877 in St. Louis, later in Gervais when that parish had been separated.
