Mrs Elias (Mary) Johnson, 91 years of age and one of the eldest citizens of this community passed away at the Bethesda Home, Chisago City, Friday from infirmities of advanced age. She had been at the Home since 1939. Her exact age was given as 91 years, 9 mo and 3 days. Surviving her are 6 sons and daughters namely Mrs Anna Chell of Lindstrom, Mrs Herman Nak of Los Angeles, CA, Mrs Robert Schmidt of Aberdeen, WA, Theodore Johnson of Center City, Clerk of District Court, Herbert Johnson of Aberdeen, WA and Clarence Johnson of Ottumwa, IA. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 4 greatgrandchildren and one sister, Louise in Sweden.

Born in Vexio, Sweden, October 7, 1856 she came here in the year 1877. Her maiden name was Mary Johnson. She first settled in stillwater where she worked for a time and then went to St Paul. In the year 1879 she married Elias Johnson and lived on a farm south of Lindstrom. Mr. Johnson passed away in Lndstrom in 1937.

Services were held Monday from the Chisago Lake Church in Center City with the Rev J Walton Kempe officiating. Miss Agda Wennerberg served as organist, Mrs Howard Lindvig and Mrs Roy Johnson soloists and pallbearers were Rueben Larson, Hjalmer Peterson, Henry Rydeen, George Gummerson, Arthur Larson and Elmer Swenson. Interment was made at the Chisago Lake Cemetary.
