Carrie N. Fields, 56, wife of Robert E. Fields, died Tuesday morning at the family residence, 1307 W. 1st St. She had been in ill health for some time, but her death was unexpected.

Mrs. Fields was born in Parkersburg, W.Va., and came to Muncie in 1931 following her marriage. She was employed as a nurse's aid at Ball Memorial Hospital for several years and had also worked at American Lawnmower Company and Helen's Dinner Bell truck stop. She attended Grace Baptist Church.

Surviving besides her husband are a son, James E. Fields, Selma; her father, Marion Allen, Parkersburg, W.Va.; four sisters, Mrs. Alton (Ethel) Schrader and Mrs. Sam (Esther) Forshey, both of Parkersburg, Mrs. Rod (Ada) Guinn and Mrs. Hohn (Mary) Elcessor, both of Muncie; a brother, Clarence Melvin Allen, Akron, Ohio; and four grandchildren, all of Selma.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Meeks Mortuary with Rev. Collins Glenn, pastor of Grace Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery.
Friends may call at the mortuary 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday and prior to services Tuesday.
