Robert E. Fields, 72, died at the Woodland Nursing Home early Thursday evening after an extended illness. He was born in Muncie and had lived in Muncie and Delaware County most of his life.
Mr. Fields retired from City Machine Tool & Die Company in 1971. His wife, Carrie Fields, died in March of 1971.
Surviving are one son, James E. Fields, Selma; two brothrers, Clesent O. Fields, Muncie, and Chester M. Fields, Glendale, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Kingery, Muncie, and Mrs. Opal McDowell, Muncie; four grandchildren, Stephen Fields, Muncie, Michael Fields, U.S. Navy in Orlando, Fla., Cynthia Fields, Muncie, and Julie Fields, Selma.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Meeks Mortuary with Rev. K. Edwards Maynard officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery.
Friends may call at the mortuary from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Friday and anytime prior to the services on Saturday.
