Funeral services for William Earl Carter, 77, of Route 3, Greenville will be at 3:30 p.m. today at Coker-Mathews-Peters Chapel with Rev. B. J. Bell and Rev. Eddie Frazier officiating. Burial will be in Tidwell Cemetery.

Mr. Carter died Monday morning in a Dallas hospital.

A native of Hunt County, he was born Nov. 27, 1894, the son of Joe Carter and Myrtie Bridges Carter. He married Maggie Lee Pendergrass July 16, 1918 in Peniel. Mr. Carter was a cattleman and farmer.

Survivors include eight sons, D. R. Carter of Greenville, Bill and Albert Carter of Garland, Herbert E. Howard, Raymond and Don Carter of Dallas and Joe Carter of Bakersfield, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Marie Gabrell of Dallas; two brothers, Melvin Carter of Greenville and Eugene Carter of Hugo, Okla.; a sister, Mrs. J. E. Ross of Denison, 21 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1961 and a son, Kenneth, in 1944.
