Alverta (Thomas) McCullough, 102, of Plumcreek Township died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2006 at the Armstrong County Health Center, Kittanning.

She was born Dec. 3, 1903 in Plumcreek Township to John and Margaret (Reefer) Thomas.

Mrs. McCullough was a homemaker. She was a member of the Gastown United Church of Christ. For all of her life, she was a resident of Plumcreek Township.

Survivors include one son, Earl McCullough and wife Sue of Rural Valley; three daughters, Ida Erdley of Eaton, N.Y., Eleanor McCausland, and Mary E. McCullough, both of Shelocta; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren;10 great-great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph McCullough; one son, Joseph James McCullough; three brothers, Victor, Charlie, and Edward Thomas; and four sisters, Nellie Taylor, Mary Thomas, Olive Jackson, and Pearl Hershberger.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Clark Chapel of the Bauer Funeral Home, Inc., 238 S. Main St., Elderton, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday with her pastor, the Rev. Herman Ridley, officiating. Burial will be in the Atwood Cemetery.
