Lineage:
Abijah Yeager, b. 1788 in Culpeper Co., VA; son of John Yager, b. 25 Nov 1750 in Culpeper Co., VA; son of Michael Yager, b. 1728 in Spotsylvania Co., VA; son of Adam Yager, b. 1708 in Germany, immigrant to the 1717 Germanna Colony in Virginia; son of Nicholas Yager, b. 1768 in Germany, immigrant to the 1717 Germanna Colony in Virginia.

Children of Abijah and Louisa (Lucy) Williams Yeager:
James Madison (1812-1862); Lewis Winston (1814-after 1880); Berry Bayless (1818-1826); Gabriel Perry (abt. 1821-1860); Theodocia Caroline (abt. 1824-after 1900) m. Emanuel Dobbins; Martha Elizabeth (abt. 1827 - after 08 Nov 1894) m. Minor Woolley; Ducalion W. (12 Apr 1828 - 24 Apr 1890). Note that Abijah's sons James Madison, Lewis Winston, Gabriel Perry and Ducalion W. all migrated from Bibb County, AL, into Texas in the 1850s. James Madison and Gabriel Perry predeceased their father. James Madison's widow and children remained in Texas, but Gabriel Perry's widow returned to Alabama after his death. Abijah's son Berry B. moved into Mississippi but died during the Civil War at the siege of Vicksburg. Abijah's daughter Theodocia and son-in-law Emanuel Dobbins lived on in Abijah's house with Abijah's widow Lucy, who lived to be 92. (Abijah's family bible quite possibly was passed down into the Dobbins family, although each of his children was probably given a copy of the family pages.) Abijah's daughter Martha Elizabeth and her husband Minor Woolley died in Chilton County, Alabama.

Inscription

Sacred to the memory of
ABIGAH YEAGER
Born in Culpeper Co., Va.
Jan.20, 1788
Died in Bibb Co., Ala.
Sept. 2, 1862
He was a man of honest industry
and stern integrity, and for many years
an acceptable member of the M.E. Church
This languishing head is at rest,
Its thinking and aching are o'er,
This quiet unmovable breast,
Is heaved by affliction no more.
