Professional Football Player. For six seasons (1972 to 1977), he played at the left-cornerback position in the National Football League with the Oakland Raiders. Born Alonzo Thomas, he was raised in Kansas, where he attended Wyandotte High School. After transferring from Arizona Western Junior College to USC, where he concluded his collegiate football career, he was selected by the Raiders during the 7th round of the 1972 NFL Draft. During the course of his career, Thomas was a component of Oakland's famed secondary known as "The Soul Patrol" along with Willie Brown, George Atkinson and Jack Tatum. Perhaps one of the most feared backfields in NFL history, they played a significant role in the Raiders' capturing of the Super Bowl XI title on January 9th, 1977. In 82 regular season games, he recorded 17 interceptions for 222 yards with 1 touchdown.
