Espiridion and his wife Juana (Hernandez) Garcia had 5 wonderful children, Librado Lawrence, Paul Apolonio, Margaret, Genara "Annie" and Jose. Espiridion and Juana migrated to the United States sometime between 1913 and 1915. He worked the Farmlands of the Central Valley, eventually moving onto the Kullman Ranch in Reedley, Ca about 1934. Espiridion and his wife worked hard and supported their family through the 1930's unfortunately for the Garcia's an epidemic was beginning to affect his families health. Juana the Matriarch of the family was stricken with Pulmonary Tuberculosis, though she fought as best she could her health diminished and after two weeks of being in the Fresno Hospital she took her last breath. For the Garcia's, this was an enormous loss but they did their very best to cope and moved forward. Sadly the losses in the Garcia family were not over, just two and half years after the loss of his Wife Juana, Annie, their youngest daughter was stricken with the same invisible disease that claimed Juana's life. Annie finally succumbed to Pulmonary Tuberculosis, that was likely contracted from her mother, and passed away in November of 1940. Annie was laid to rest near her mother at Holy Cross Cemetery in Fresno. Grief stricken Espiridion and his remaining children somehow found the strength within themselves to carry on. In 1942, just two years after the loss of his daughter, Espiridion's family and personal sanity were challenged once again. The United States of America called upon the Garcia sons to help defend the US in World War II along with thousands of others. Without hesitation Lawrence Librado Garcia and his youngest brother Joe M Garcia answered the call and enlisted into the US Army. Paul stayed back to look after his father and sister Margaret. Though Espiridion was very proud of his sons and was honored to have them serve their Country he was saddened that his boys would be going off to a foreign land to be put into harms way. The emotional challenges that he must've bared, no man could understand but he had to put his faith in God and trust that everything would work out for the best. Once again Espiridion would have to endure burying another child. In April of 1944, Margaret, Espiridions last remaining daughter would suffer the same fate as his wife and youngest daughter. Margaret was diagnosed with Tuberculosis and after 13 months of struggling in a Fresno hospital quarantine she passed away. Margaret was laid to rest in Reedley Cemetery, Espiridion could no longer handle any more, Paul took care of his sisters last rites and services. With the strength of God I can only imagine how this final loss could be dealt with, in January of 1945 as the war was coming to an end Espiridion received notification by the War Department that his youngest son Joe M Garcia was Killed In Action on January 16th 1945 in The Battle for Herrlisheim. There are no words that can truly express what Espiridion must of felt. What he had endured up to this point in his life was unimaginable for one soul to bare, but somehow he did. There was some good news for the Father that lost so much, in late October of 1945 Espiridion was able to see his eldest son Librado Lawrence Garcia return home from the War. Only God could know why Espiridion had to endure such a walk in his lifetime, but only God could give him the strength to get through it. In early 1954 Espiridion Garcia's heavy heart was finally eased he was called back home to be with the Lord and rejoin his loved ones that he briefly separated from, those years before. He was laid to rest at the Reedley Cemetery in Reedley, Ca near his youngest son Joe.
