William Frederick Ray died after a long illness at his home, near Amaranth, Pa., Thursday evening, aged 72.
The son of Frank and Amanda (Beatty) Ray, he was born in Ohio but had lived in the vicinity of Amaranth for the last 65 years.
Besides his wife, Lilly Ray, he is survived by daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Deneen, Cumberland; and Mrs. Nellie Unger, Mrs. Isabell Bishop, Mrs. May Hull, Mrs. Orintha Mills and Mrs. Goldie Younker, all of Hancock; sons, Charles and Ernest, both of Amaranth; and Theodore and Chester, both of Hancock; brothers, James, Artemus, Pa.; McKinley, John, Amaranth, Pa; sisters Mrs. Elsie Long, Mrs. Minnie Bucy, Hialeah, Fla.; Mrs. Mary Polis, Mrs. Blanche Robinette, Amaranth; 23 grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.
The body was removed to the Charles R. Bast Funeral Home, Hancock. At 1:45 p.m. Sunday it will be taken to the Piney Plains Methodist Church where the service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m., the Rev. Charles Wakeman officiating, with interment in the adjoining cemetery.
