Five British soldiers killed during the retreat from Concord on the first day of the American Revolution. Ephraim and Elizabeth Hartwell, who owned the Hartwell Tavern on Battle Road, gave these soldiers a proper burial in Elizabeth's family plot. She was the only mourner at the funeral.
