Vernold Edgar Bachmann, 67, died at 10:23 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 17, 1999, in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Services will be in Christ Lutheran Church in Jacob, with the Rev. Thomas Fast officiating. Burial will be in Christ Lutheran Cemetery, with military rites by American Legion Poast 127 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7190, both in Murphysboro, VFW Post 2605 in Carbondale and Jackson County Disabled American Veterans Chapter 69. Visitation will be at Pettett Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran School in Jacob or Immanuel Lutheran School in Murphsyboro.

Mr. Bachmann was a farmer and a salesman for Moorman Feed. He served on the Sand Ridge Township Board, was a member of the Lutheran Brotherhood and the Aid Association for Lutherans, and was a peace-time veteran.

He was born May 2, 1932, in Farrar Community, Mo., to Ernst and Emma (Hadler) Bachmann.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Janna Bachmann, Allen and Gay Bachmann and Geffery and LaDonna Bachmann, all of Murphysboro; seven grandchildren ..., three brothers and sisters-inlaw, Orville and Esther Bachmann of Crosstown, Mo., Norman and Dorothy Bachmann of St. Louis and Raymond and Annetta Bachmann of Brownstown, Ind.; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Aldine and Leroy Meunch of Cissna Park, Loretta and Bill Givens of St. Louis and Euline and Norman Koenig of Farrar Community; and a dear friend, Ruth Schrader of Jacob.

His parents preceded him in death.
