Friday when Mrs. Sardis Francis,
97 years of age, died at her home
in Windfall, death being due to a
general breakdown. For the past
several weeks she had been confined
to her home and had gradually
been losing in strength. She
dropped into a long last sleep at
11:00 Friday morning.
Funeral services are to be held
at the late home in Windfall Sunday
afternoon at 1:30 with Rev. Polly (Couch)
Bowman officiating.Interment sill follow in the Brookside cemetery at that place.
Friends are invited to call at the
late home at any time prior to the services.
Mrs. Francis was born in Randolph county, January 10, 1841
being a daughter of William and Mary Martin, who were the parents of four children all deceased.
Her first husband to whom she was married March 17, 1857
was John Bailey, an early merchant of Windfall and the father
of a son, William R. Bailey of Indianapolis, whose death occurred May 11, 1931. At the time of her death her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Sarah Bailey of Indianapolis, her grandson, Harold Bailey of that city, and a niece, Mrs. Janie Barkler, of Chicago were at her bedside. Other survivors are three great grand-children. Her second marriage which occurred May 4, 1922, was to Thomas Francis, whose death occurred 12 years ago.
