PIERCE - Services for Elmer R. Maas, 82, Pierce, will be at 10:30 a.m.
Wednesday, Jan 20, at Christ Lutheran Church here. The Rev. Shen Lodel will
officiate with burial in Prospect View Cemetery in Pierce. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. prayer service at Stonacek Memorial Chapel in Pierce.
He died Sunday, Jan 17, 1999, at Pierce Manor.
The son of Richard and Katherine (Wagermann) Maas was born April 30, 1916,
in Wayne County. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion East Lutheran Church
in Hoskins. He attended country school in Wayne County.
He married La Verne Bargstadt on June 10, 1941, at Zion East Lutheran
Church in Hoskins. The couple farmed on the Maas homestead near Hoskins
until 1942. The purchased a farm near Pierce, where they lived until 1973
when they moved to town.
Mr. Maas was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. He was also a past county
commissioner in Pierce.
He was preceded in death by his wife, six brothers and three sisters.
