Auto Race Car Driver. He had a successful career as a NASCAR driver that was cut short when an accident during a tire test at Charlotte Motor Speedway proved to be fatal. He had raced with the likes of Richard Petty, Joe Weatherly, Fireball Roberts and Ned Jarrett. He began his racing career in 1957 and for many years sponsored his own car. The last year he raced he drove the #54 Plymouth for Burton Robinson. He had won the pole at the World 600 that year in the same car. He finished 6th in NASCAR points for the year 1963.
