Attending various military schools including Norwich University, he graduated from advanced navigation training and was commissioned and assigned as a navigator on a crew of a B-17. Upon discharge in December 1945, he attended the University of Detroit majoring in accounting and became a certified public accountant. While attending the University, he married Jeanette Demers of Riverside, Ontario and they had eight children. He also completed a Master of Divinity Degree at SS Cyril & Methododus Seminary and a two year program with the Jesuits at Columbiere Michigan on Retreat and Spiritual Direction.
Upon reaching semi-retirement, he devoted one day a month to the care of the homebound people in nursing homes and adult foster care homes in his boyhood Detroit parish for over twenty years.
From September 1995, he volunteered as a mediator. He received certificates from the Chief Justice of the Florida Supreme Court which enabled him to act as both a family and county mediator in all Florida counties. This right and privilege was transferred to Michigan. He also was certified for hospice care in 1996.
