Homer James Ginn, age 93, of Florence, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003, at Lauderdale Christian Nursing Home, after an extended illness.He was a native of Morgansville, Ga., and had lived most of his life in Lauderdale County. After moving to this area from Birmingham, Mr. Ginn worked for Reynolds Alloys Co. as a machinist for 32 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Florence and a member of Machinist Local No. 1189.Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Greenview Memorial Chapel, with burial to follow in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Henry Melton and the Rev. Gene Richey.Mr. Ginn is survived by his wife of 59 years, Bernice Harris Ginn of Florence; two daughters, Joy Ginn Runyan of Aransas Pass, Texas, and Wanda Katie Ginn of Florence; two sons, Dennis Ginn and wife, Teresa, of Houston, Texas, and Bobby Miller of Pensacola, Fla.; two brothers, Fred Ginn of Klamath Falls, Ore., and Gerald Ginn of Sarasota, Fla.; two sisters, Paula Mae Thorpe and Pat Marcus, both of St. Petersburg, Fla.; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, C.L. and Margia Ginn; two brothers, Orin and Esmond Ginn; two sisters, Leona Taylor and Ophia Kimbell.Pallbearers will be Gabriel Ginn, Tommy Gallien, Ikey Fowler, Tommy Ruple, Steve Dunn and Tommy James.Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Hudson, Gene Wilson and Mark Jones.The family wishes to thank the Lauderdale Christian Nursing Home staff and Dr. Robert Mann for their kindness.Greenview Funeral Home of Florence is directing.
