US Congressman. Elected to represent Michigan's 1st and 2nd Districts in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1855 to 1861, and 1871 to 1877. Also served as a Member of the Michigan State House of Representatives in 1843, and Delegate to the Republican National Convention from Michigan in 1868.
