Patricia Barry Cusick January 22, 2005
Patricia Barry Cusick, 84, of 8347 Rt. 34, Weedsport, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, January 22, 2005. Patricia was born on March 28, 1920. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret McGurk. She was a graduate and the salutatorian of the Holy Family class of 1939. She graduated from Nazareth College Phi Beta Kappa with a degree in music and English education. Patricia was president of her class in both her freshman and senior years. After graduation she immediately joined the USO and was stationed in Florida as a program director for over three years.
After working at the Neighborhood House in Auburn for less than a year, she married New York State Assemblyman and attorney Charles A. Cusick, and was married to him until his death in 1981. Her civic activities included organist in several churches in central and western NY, the United Way, the Red Cross Blood Bank, Cayuga Home, Auburn Memorial Hospital trustee, president of the Auburn Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, president of the Cayuga County Women's Republican Club, National Council of Catholic Women, trustee of the Weedsport Free Library, and trustee of the St. Joseph's (Weedsport) Cemetery Association.
She succeeded her husband as president of Buck Point Inc. She was a member of the Owasco Country Club, St. Joseph's Church of Weedsport, and Auburn Nautilus.
Patricia is survived by her son Barry of Weedsport, and four nieces, Marylyn Ianiri Anderson (Bob) of Sodus, Maureen O'Hara (Mike) of Fleming, Michelle Clancy (Kevin) of NJ, and Marcie Bannon (Bob Blaisdell) of VA. She was predeceased by her parents and sisters, Margaret "Peg" Bannon and Marylyn Barry.
There will be no public calling hours for Patricia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. on Wednesday in St. Joseph's Church in Weedsport. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery (Weedsport).
