Mrs. Margaret McGurk Barry, 89 yrs., widow of Joseph L. Barry, 21 Lewis St., died Sunday evening at her home. Mrs. Barry a Canadian prior to her marriage, was a teacher in Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta Canada. During her residency in Auburn, she was a member of the staff at Logan and St. Alphonsus Schools. She had also served as a substitute In the Auburn School System.
For over thirty years, Mrs. Barry was associated with the Girl Scout Program in Auburn and Cayuga County, serving as a Girl Scout Leader; member of the Council. She was formerly a member of the Auburn Recreation Commission; Girl Director at the former Camp Columbus on Owasco Lake. Active tn Parent Teachers Associations; National Council of Catholic Women; Third Order of Mt. Carmel; Mercy Hospital Auxilliary; The Altar Rosary Society of St. Alphonsus Church of which she was a communicant.
Mrs. Barry was active in Republican party, having served as committee person for many years. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Charles (Patricia) Cusick of Weedsport; Mrs. George (Margaret) Bannon and Miss Marylyn T. Barry of Auburn. Five grand-children, three great-grandchildren.
