MRS. E. BIRD
Hattie Marie Potts was born in Hamilton county, Nebraska, on Nov. 7, 1874 and passed on to her reward at York, Nebr., on March 17th, 1932, at the age of 57 years, 4 months and 10 days.
On Nov. 11th, 1892, she was united in marriage to Leonard F. Southworth. To this union five children were born, one of which passed away in infancy.
In 1905 she confessed her faith in her Redeemer and united with the followers of Christ in the Methodist Episcopal church.
Her entire life was spent in Hamilton and York counties. Here she experienced the hardships of the early pioneer life in Nebraska. Her life was spent in rearing her family and her entire interests were centered there. She was a devoted mother and a kind neighbor, always willing to help those in trouble. She loved little children and was never happier than when caring for them.
On Oct. 28th, 1908 she was united in marriage to George F. Rogers. To this union two children were born: Georgiamae and Paul. Mr. Rogers preceded her in death in 1916. On April 3rd, 1922 she was wed to Ernest L. Bird who remains to mourn her departure. She leaves to mourn her loss a faithful husband and six loving children, three sisters, two brothers and seven grand children.
Her children are: Guy Wendell Southworth of Portsmouth, Ohio; Franklin Allen Southworth, Marysville, Kansas; Elijah Newton Southworth, Blue Hill, Nebr.; Mrs. R. C. Ashbaugh, Aurora, Nebr.; Georgiamae Rogers and Paul Rogers of York. Two brothers, W. A. Potts of Chadron, Nebr., and Robert H. Potts of Bayard, Nebr., and three sisters, Mrs. M. F. Werts, Great Falls, Mont., Mrs. Frank Swanson, Burley, Idaho, and Mrs. R. H. Dann of Chicago, Ill.
The funeral service was held at the family home, 67 Nebraska ave at 2 P. M. Sunday afternoon. The service was conducted by Rev. E. H. Jackson pastor of the First Baptist church and a mixed quartet from the Baptist choir. The body was laid to rest in the Aurora cemetery.

Mrs. Ernest Bird Dies in Hospital
Mrs. Ernst L. Bird, residing at 67 Nebraska avenue, died in a local hospital last Thursday morning, at the age of 57. She was taken ill a few days before and when her condition became critical she was removed to the hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Bird came to York from Stockham about six years ago, Mrs. Bird was thrice married, her first husband's name being Southworth, the second being Rogers. She is survived by four sons and two daughters from her first and second marriages.
Funeral services were held in the Bird home on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. E. H. Jackson of the Baptist church was the officiating minister. The remains were taken to Aurora for burial.
