Abigail was the daughter of Turner Chace (Chase) and Mary Pierce (Peirce) Chace. She married Capt. John Chace Gibbs on January 27, 1836 in Taunton, Ma. (her marriage "intention" notice stated she was "of Taunton"). They had 3 sons: Henry Francis, died as an infant and was born 21 years before his brother Nelson!; Richard "Capt. Dick" Gibbs & Nelson Hall Gibbs, our direct ancestor. Abigail died from "chronic nefhritis" at home, the house that her husband originally built on 24 Arnold Street in Providence, RI. The house is now a part of the Historical Preservation Society.
