ROCHESTER — Carl Stanley, 85, of 5 Sandina Drive, died peacefully on Saturday, August 6, at Langdon Place of Dover after a long illness.

Born Feb. 14, 1926, in Harlan, Ky., he was the son of the late Conley and Orette (Miles) Stanley.

Mr. Stanley has lived in Rochester for the past 40 years after retiring from the U.S. Air Force, where he served for 22 years. Following his military retirement, he was employed as an electrician for Harris Graphics, where his work allowed him to travel to many interesting places throughout the world. He retired in 1987. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, camping, and new cars. He was a lifelong member of the DAV.

Members of his family include his beloved wife of 54 years, Betty Ann (Miller) Stanley of Rochester; his son and daughter-in-law, William and Debra Stanley of Rochester; his grandchildren, Eric Stanley and his wife, Clara, of Rochester, Elizabeth Raynor and her husband, Andrew, of Rochester and his youngest granddaughter, Alison Stanley of Rochester, who provided much comfort and care during his final days; his four great-grandchildren who brought much joy to his life, Benjamin, AJ, and Anna Stanley all of Rochester, and Ayla Raynor of Rochester; his brother, Conley Stanley Jr and his wife, Alvada, of Tipp City, Ohio; and many dear nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by two brothers, J. Lewis and Clyde Stanley.

Calling hours will be held Monday, Aug. 8, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at R. M. Edgerly & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 86 South Main Street, Rochester, NH. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 9, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. A military burial will take place at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Farmington following the funeral service.
