Ackley World, Wednesday, Nov. 27, 1901:
Sorrow in the Home

Mrs. Brennan Dies After Illness of Eleven Days.
Affliction has fallen heavily upon the family of Patrick Brennan of this city. Until within a very recent time Mr. Brennan bore evidence of being physically strong; be was robust and hearty. But disease, hidden in tbe system, laid hold on him and he is now but a shadow of his former self.

He was for years in the employ of the Iowa Central railroad, and his work exposed him to the elements, the unfair as well as the fair. He has but recently returned from Arizona where he had been in the hope of recovering himself—but it seems to no purpose.

Mrs. Brennan was taken sick eleven days previous to her death which occurred Thursday evening, November 21, at 6 o'clock; the cause of death was due to a hemorrhage of the stomach.

She was 54 years of age. Born in Dunnamaggin, county Kilkenny, Ireland, she grew to womanhood there; being joined in marriage to the now stricken husband in tbe month of August 1870; they came to America in 1882, since which time they resided here. They have reared an excellent family of eight children—two died in infancy—who bear with fortitude the sorrowful burden that Providence—creater of all—has seen fit to visit upon them.

Phillip resides In Chicago. Mrs. R.F. O'Brien, Alice and Stasia, have their home In Omaha, Edward, at Pueblo, Colorado, William, Mary and John are at home here. She also leaves two brothers and two sisters living in Ireland. The sunlight of the home has vanished.
Funeral services were held at St. Mary's Catholic church, Sunday, conducted by Rev. Father Meagher, and the mortal remains were consigned to mother earth here.
May a kind Providence comfort the sorrowing.
