Virginia Ruth (Miller)(Delaney) Shell--Virginia Ruth (Miller) Shell, 87, died Sunday evening, March 14, 1999 at the Central Montana Medical Center. She was born in Raymond, Nebraska, on May 13, 1911 to William R and Daisy I (Heskett) Miller. At age 2 1/2, they moved nine miles east of Winifred to homestead. She graduated from Winifred High SChool in 1928. Following graduation she attended Eastern Montana Normal College in Billings from 1928-30 receiving a teaching degree. She taught in Fergus County rural schools for four years. On Sept 8, 1934, she was united in marriage to Charles P Delaney. They ranched northwest of Hilger raising a family there. They moved to Lewistown in 1954. Charles died on Oct 16, 1971. She married William J Shell on Sept 15, 1972 in Lewistown. He preceded her in death on March 21, 1994. She was a member of St Leo's Catholic Church and St Joseph's Guild. She enjoyed teaching first aid and advanced first aid classes. Survivors include four daughters; Virginia (Gene) Pigeon of Pahrump, Nevada; Shirley Wambeke of Billings MT; Patricia (Gail) Barnes of Billings Mt and Daisy Delaney of Albuquerque NM; one sister Judith (Harold) Foster of Manhattan; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters; Hazel and Lurene; a brother Dale; a son, Charles (Jerry) Delaney and her husbands. A vigil service will be at St Leo's Catholic Church on Thursday evening, March 18 at 7 p.m. Funeral liturgy will be at St Leo's Catholic Church on Friday, March 19 at 10 a.m. and burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Creel Funeral Home of Lewistown is in charge of arrangement.
