ABSHIRE, Paul Harold, 72, of Rt. 2, Boones Mill, died Thursday, May 12, 1994 at his residence. He was a lifelong member of the Boones Mill Church of the Brethren, where he served as Deacon, and taught Sunday School for 40 years. Mr. Abshire retired after 41 years with Norfolk & Western Railroad. Surviving are his wife, Marie Saul Abshire; two daughters and one son-in-law, Phyllis and Gary Fagan, Crozet, Lois Arrington, Boones Mill; three grandchildren, Emily, Amanda and Lindsay Fagan; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Jesse and Mildred Abshire, Randolph and Helen Abshire, all of Roanoke, Howard and Jackie Abshire, Boone s Mill; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Mae and Raymond Webster, Boones Mill, Naomi and Cecil Wingo, Roanoke, Walter and Jane Ellen Cundiff, Rocky Mount; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at Flora Funeral Chapel, 2 p.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Robert A. Miller and the Rev. Leonard Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park. The family suggests memorials be made to Roanoke Memorial Hospice Dept., P. O. Box 13367, Roanoke, Va. 24033 or Boones Mill Church of the Brethren, Rt. 2, Boones Mill, Va. 24065. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Friday, with the family receiving friends from 7 to 9 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service, 342 S. Main St., Rocky Mount.
