American Revolutionary War Soldier. He was killed at Lexington Green on the first day of the American Revolution. He was one of the first eight American fatalities that morning, and one of fifty Americans either killed or mortally wounded by the end of the day. While returning home to Woburn from Boston earlier that morning, he had been taken prisoner by British forces and was attempting to escape near Lexington Green when he was shot.

Here lies Buried the Body of
Mr. Asahel Porter who was
slain in Lexington Battle
on ye 19th of April 1775.
Although a Man of Peace
he was caught in a conflict
not of his choosing.
As a result he become
one of the first to die
for his New Country.
