The 4th child of 8 to Joseph French and Charity Beardsley. Married Esther Beardsley about 1785. The US Census of 1820 finds him and his family in Huntington, Fairfield, Connecticut. He would have been 58. In 1830 he and his family were counted in Monroe, Fairfield, Connecticut.

Abner French, son of Joseph and Charity (Beardslee) French, born in 1762 in Huntington, Fairfield, CT., died 23 March 1839 in Huntington; married Hester Beardslee of Monroe, CT., who died 2 March 1854. She was the daughter of Isaac and Mehitable (Mallet) Beardlsey (lee). Abner was a Freeman in Huntington in 1790; chorister in St. Paul's Church, Huntington, in 1785; operated a lumber mill and the Samuel French Farm South of Trapfall Hill, inherited from his father.
