Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Wednesday, September 24, 1968 in Mount Calvary Baptist Church for
Welthine Artis, 64 of 533 Ridge Avenue who died of cancer Saturday in South Side Hospital where she had been a patient for two weeks. She had been ill a year.

Mrs Artis was born October 4, 1903 in Lauderdale, Mississippi, a daughter of Brown and Eliza (Cammack) McElroy and came to Youngstown in 1963 from York, Alabama. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in York. Her husband Gray to whom she married in 1924, died in 1963.

She leaves four sons, Coleman Cooper, Thomas, R.C. and Gabriel Artis, all of Youngstown. Seven daughters Mrs. Eliza Ann Fisher (James) Mrs. Eartha Terrell (Rachel) and mrs. Louise Walker (Charles), all of Youngstown, Mrs Jewel Knox, (Louis) of Cleveland, Ohio Mrs. Christine Jones and Mrs. Lula Belle Merchant both of Detroit, Michigan and Mrs Bertha Mae Bradley (Willie) of Madison, Illinois.

Four brothers James and Oscar McElroy of Youngstown, and Henry McElroy of Cuba, Alabama and R.C. of Washington D.C. two sisters Mrs. Sarah Biffle and Mrs. Arzebelle Pack both of Youngstown. 40 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
