HIGH POINT - Mrs. Kathleen (Kitty) Allen Tuttle Boone, 61, a former resident of 1200 Lancaster Place, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, at the Wesleyan Arms.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 18, 2000, at First United Methodist Church, High Point, conducted by the Rev. Donnell Lloyd and the Rev. Richard Crowder. A private inurnment will follow immediately after the service.

Mrs. Boone was born Dec. 6, 1938, in Forest City, a daughter of Lillian Allen Tuttle and the late Dr. Robert G. Tuttle. A resident of High Point all her adult life, she was a graduate of High Point High School and attended Womans College in Greensboro (UNC-G). Committed to helping others, Kitty was instrumental in establishing Hospice of the Piedmont in 1982 and served, as it's first executive director. Prior to Hospice, she served as executive director of the High Point Unit of the American Cancer Society and also with numerous community organizations including the High Point Junior League, Salvation Army Advisory Board, Big Brothers/Big Sister Board and the United Way of Greater High Point. Kitty was a recipient of the prestigious Paul Harris Rotarian Award and the James Thomas Rawleigh Distinguished Service Award. A member of the First United Methodist Church, Mrs. Boone formerly served as a chairperson of the staff parish committee, pastor parish committee, the administrative board and as a Sunday school teacher.Kitty was a selfless servant of God, wonderful mother, devoted community leader, and a dear friend to all. Her boundless spirit and countless acts of kindness leave our community a better place.

She was married to Judge Donald L. Boone. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Kathy Foster and husband, Bill of Charlotte, Mrs. Julie Mata and husband, Thomas of Charlotte; two sons, D. Lee Boone Jr. and wife, Rose Marie of High Point, Greg Boone and wife, Teresa of Charlotte; mother, Mrs. Lillian A. Tuttle of Hutchinson Island, Fla.; one sister, Mrs. Betty Newman and husband, Harry of Hutchinson Island, Fla.; one brother, Robert G. Tuttle III and wife, Diane of Asheville; seven grandchildren, Spencer Boone, Jackson Boone, Caroline Boone, Hunter Boone, Haley Boone, Kate Foster and Jacob Mata.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000, at Sechrest Funeral Home, East Lexington Avenue and at other times at 1200 Lancaster Place.

The family requests memorials be directed to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, N.C. 27262 or The Bryan Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, Duke University Medical Center, P.O. Box 3503, Durham, N.C. 27710.
