Organized Crime Figure. One of the most feared members of Detroit's Purple Gang, he was among the Purples tried and acquitted of extortion in the trial that stemmed from the Cleaners and Dyers War in 1928. After this, he started to go off on his own. He was taken for a ride and killed over the proceeds of a kidnapping he masterminded. His body was dumped in front of 2463 Taylor Street in Detroit. Irving Shapiro was 25 years old at the time of his murder.
