Johnnie Walton Cleckler, 84, of Clanton died Sunday, July 31, 2011. He was born on Thursday, March 31, 1927 in Chilton Co., AL, son of the late J. Henry Cleckler and the late Rosie Lee Mims Cleckler. He was a pipeline worker.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Laverne E. Cleckler of Clanton, AL; daughter, Barbara (Allen) Smitherson of Clanton, AL; son, Jimmy W. (Myra) Cleckler of Clanton, AL; 2 grandsons, Brian (Wendy) Smitherman of Clanton, AL, Chris Smitherman of Clanton, AL; great-granddaughters; great-grandson; 2 sisters, Elsie Mims of Verbena, AL, Lettie Pearl Driver of Clanton, AL.
He was preceded in death by his father, J. Henry Cleckler; mother, Rosie Lee Mims Cleckler; brothers, Rufus W. Cleckler, Horace W. Cleckler, James Rueben Cleckler; sisters, Flora Murr, Dora Bell Adams; great-grandson, Adam Christopher Smitherman; father-in-law, Carey Easterling and mother-in-law, Cora Easterling.
Services will be Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Sunshine Assembly of God with Rev. Arthur Davis and Rev. W.T. Cleckler and Rev. Dale Collins officating. Interment will follow in Sunshine Assembly of God Cemetery, Clanton, AL.
