Beulah Hess Keene, 76, of
Rlchlands, died March 2 at her
home following a lengthy illness.
She was bom in Swords Creek
and was a daughter of the late
Robert and Jessie Fitzgerald
Hess, both Russell County
natives.
She had made her home in the
Richlands area for the past 47
years and attended the Claypool
Hill Bible Church.
In addition to her parents, she
was preceded in death by her
husband, Thomas Milton Keene;
one sister, Ollie Coleman; and
five brothers, John, Cleo, Paul,
Clarence and Richard Hess.
Survivors: daughters, Mrs.
Charles (Betty) Swartz of Baltimore,
MD. jvtrs. James (Delia)
Bumette of Newport News; son,
Raymond E. Elswick of Cedar
Bluff; stepdaughters, Nancy
Gillespie of Rlchlands, Joanne
Ingersoll of Fortscue, NJ, Shirley
Keene of Delaware, OH, Mrs.
Robert (Darlene) Kennedy of New
Oxford, PA; stepsons, Ursle
Keene of Princeton, WV, Tommy
Keen of Cedar Bluff, Bill Keene of
Troy, NC, CM/Sgt. Jack Keen
stationed at Andrews Air Force
Base, MD; brothers, Roy Hess,
Winfred Hess and Columbus
Hess, all of Richlands, Ervin
Hess of West Cavinia, CA; nine
grandchildren; 21 stepgrandchildren;
11 greatgrandchildren;
and several stepgreat-
grandchildren.
The funeral was conducted
March 4 at 2 p.m. at the Hurst-
Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands
with Rev. Carl Tegeler officiating.
Entombment followed in
Greenhills Memory Gardens
