On June 10, 1740, at the age of 18, Sarah Cummings, a British subject, married Benjamin Joy at Rehoboth, Massachusetts. They created a life and family together which included at least eleven children: Mary, Ephraim, Sarah, David, Lucy, Thomas, Benjamin, infant son, Ruth, Abigail, and Tamer.
They lived long lives, Sarah passing at 81 and Benjamin at 90. They had been married 63 years and died Americans.
