Don Childress, area man's brother, dies

BEECHER CITY, Ill. - Don Leon Childress, 54, of Beecher City, brother of Eugene Childress of Sigel, died Monday after in St. Anthony Hospital, Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Brown-May Funeral Home, St. Elmo. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery, Beecher City.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Childress was born in Fayette County, the son of Jesse and Vada Wright Childress. He married Dorothy Guffey in St. Louis, Mo., Jan. 21, 1941.

Surviving are his widow; his father of St. Elmo; a son, Allen of Brownstown; three daughters, Mrs. James (Donna) Engelman of St. Elmo, Debra Ann and Kathy Joyce, both at home two other brothers, Nelson of Clarksburg and Wayne of Beecher City; five sisters, Mrs. Sleeta Dively of Brownstown, Mrs. Ralph (Mary) Watson of Indiana, Mrs. Dale (Lenore) Smith of Brownstown, Mrs. Larry (Lydia) Beck of Beecher City and Mrs. Darold (Dorothy) Rhodes of St. Elmo; and two grandchildren.
