Mary Stroman married John "Long John" Jennings on February 28, 1807. She was the daughter of Jacob Stroman (1749-1795) and Elizabeth Tyler (1759- ?). Jacob's father, John Jacob Stroman emmigrated from Switzerland with his father in 1735.
Mary died during childbirth at the age of 43 and was survived by the two (step)children of Elizabeth's, and her own two daughters and seven sons. One newborn infant son died at a month old and a two year old son died about twenty months later. Mary was buried beside John's first wife in the family burial ground on the plantation.
