Catherine Hornett (sic): Catharine, daughter of James and Mary Hornett (sic), died at her father's residence, near Circleville, Ohio, April 2d, 1862, aged 17 years, 1 month, and 9 days. In riding a rather frisky horse she was thrown off, broke her thigh bone, and mangled her knee in a terrible manner. She laid over nine weeks in dreadful suffering, but she bore it with wonderful patience, for she was a Christian and an excellent girl. Whenever asked concerning her hope she would say all was well, and desired to depart and be at rest. The funeral was attended to on the following day, in the presence of a very large and sympathizing congregation. The death of this sister was the most affecting scene that I ever witnessed. She was one of a large family, fair and lovely. The young people of the neighborhood wept like children to see
one of their number, so young and promising, in this manner leave a world of sorrow and enter into glory. May God give the bereaved and much-afflicted parents grace to bear up under their weight of sorrow, and look hopefully into the future. I. L. BUCHWALTER, Hallsville, Ross co., April 16, 1862 (source: The Religious Telescope).
