Mrs. Charlotte Davis

Mrs Charlotte Davis, aged 90
years and 6 months, a resident of
the First Ward for the last 26 years
and one of the oldest residents of
Johnstown, died at 9 o'clock Saturday
night at the Davis home, rear
of 217 Vine street, following an
extended illness of ailments incident
to advanced age. Mrs. Davis had
been bedfast for several weeks.
Born in South Wales, Mrs. Davis
came to America in 1861, locating in
Brisbin, Clearfield County, until
1898, when the Davis family came
to Johnstown. Her husband, David
L. Davis, died about 30 years ago.
Mrs Davis was the mother of 13
children, eight of whom preceded
her to the grave. The following
children survive: Harriet, wife of
William Crago, South Fork; Charlotte,
wife of William Malcolm,
First Ward; Evan Davis, Brisbin;
J. B. Davis, First Ward, and Helen,
wife of Richard Bennett, First Ward.
In addition to her children, Mrs.
Davis is survived by 26 grandchildren,
72 great-grandchildren, and 11
great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be conducted
this evening at the late residence,
in charge of the Rev. B. D. Evans,
pastor of the First Congregational
Church. The body will be shipped
to Brisbin tomorrow morning for
burial.
