Betty Keen, 78, of Granville, Ill., died Wednesday, December 25, 2002, in her home in Granville, Ill. Born June 10, 1924, in Canton, Mo., a daughter to Jesse and Dora Lillian Sherwood Job. She married James N. Keen, Sr., April 17, 1956. He preceded her in death in 1994. Mrs. Keen worked at the Illinois Department of Labor and at the Secretary of State's Drivers License Office, in Granville. She also worked as a bailiff in the Putnam County Courthouse. She was a Democrat precinct committeewoman in Granville, for many years and was a member of the Putnam County Food Share, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post 8324, and the Bells and Bows Square Dance Club. Mrs. Keen was a member of Hennepin Methodist Church in Hennepin, Ill. Survivors include one son, James Jr. Keen and wife, Lisa, Granville, Ill.; one daughter, Teresa Clausen, and husband Jon, Hennepin, Ill.; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Mike, in 1972; seven brothers, two sisters, and two grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday, December 28, at Helmer-Shields Funeral Home with Rev. David Rasmussen officiating. Interment was at Granville Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Lighted Way Association.
