Richard Bates A Grand Old Man of the Musquodoboit Valley Died on June 19, 1911.

Over 4 Score years old - a pioneer of by-gone days, 5O years a church worker among Glenmore Presbyterians. He was a kind and loving husband and father, a strong Christian man and had lived a noble life having been a consistent worker of the Presbyterian Church in Middle Musquodoboit for over fifty years ,tnd took an active part as leader of Glenmore Sabbath School for many years.

He was always industrious and was ambitious. He started young in life and hewed down the first tree In the forest, the commencement of his farm which now ( can be seen in acres and acres of broad smooth fields, the fruits of his labour.
