She was a resident of Ouray for many years where she made her home with her first husband D.C. McNabb, whom she married Apr. 1884. She married Earl Austin at Grand Junction Co. in 1901. The couple lived in Ouray and moved to Laked City. Survived by son Fred McNabb of Durango Co. Mrs. Austin was a quiet, kindly woman, bearing her trials and difficulties with fortitude. She was unassuming on account of her bodily ills in the past few years, took little part in community life, enjoying communion with her few close friends to whom her departure has brot a sense of sadness and loss. In her latter years Mrs. Austin supplemented her meager income selling home brew alcohol and was frequently seen delivering her brew in burlap sacks which she dragged behind her as she walked the streets.
