His parents were James E. Braddy, b. Dec 1852 in Georgia, and Narcissa "Cissy" Bradshaw, b. abt 1866 in Tennessee. His grandparents were John W. and Phyllis Braddy, both born in South Carolina. At some point during his early life he changed his surname to Brady.

The 1885 birth year on the marker is incorrect. According to information he provided on the SS-5 form when he filed for Social Security, he was born in 1887. Sadly, his children knew very little about their father.
