Edward Kentoski was born Wladyslaw Kantorski to Julius Kantorski and Anna Trojanowska Kantorska in Russian Poland, probably Golub-Dobrzyn as his petition for naturalization states birth in "Dobrzyn, Plock". Wladyslaw emigrated to America via Castle Garden arriving on 5/22/1885 with his mother (Anna age 40), brother (Anton or "Frank" age 18), and three sisters (Lena age 8, Julia age 10, and Rosa age 5).Settled in St.Louis, MO with family. Married Eva Bonk, (daughter of Bartholomew Bonk and Joanna Musial of Radom, IL) in May 24, 1898 at St Casimirs Catholic Church in St Louis. Marriage records are in name Wladyslaw Kantorski. He sometime later changed first name to Edward and last name to Kentoski perhaps to "Americanize" his name. His sisters continued to use the last name of Kantorski(a). The family resided in St.Louis until moving to Belleville, IL sometime between 1903-1905 (daughter Lucille born in St Louis in 1901 and next child, daughter Vern, born in 1905 in Belleville) where he was employed as a molder. Father of six children, Lee ,Josephine, Vern, Celia, Julius, and Helen.
Suffered fatal burns in a gasoline explosion in neighbor, Peter Loza's garage, and died shortly later in St Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville.
Edward's address at the time of his death was 303 N 38th St, Belleville. Funeral mass was held at St Mary's Catholic Church which still stands today.

Addendum. It is believed thru Polish records that Edward also had an older sister, Wladyslawa, born circa September 1864 and died in December 1864.She was born in Sokolowo to father, Julian or Julius, who was a miller and Anna Trojanowska Kantorski. These same Polish records show a Franciszek Kantorski living in Sokolowo at the same time. He was born in 1837 and married to an Emilia Welke who was born in 1845. Franciszek could very possibly have been Julius' brother.Franciszek had children Wincenty (1864), Joanne (1866), Zofia (1867), Aniela (1869), and also a son Wladyslaw (1871). If records are correct, then both Franciszek and Julius had sons named Wladyslaw. Julius son was the younger by 2-3 years

The exact date of birth of Edward ( born Wladyslaw) Kentoski ( born Kantorski) cannot be verified as it varies depending upon the source. His WWI draft card states it as March 25, 1873, his death certificate states August 22, 1875, and his tombstone states Jan 10, 1874. Immigration records from Castle Garden state he was 11 yrs old at his arrival in America on 5/22/1885 lending more credence to a birthdate of Jan 10,1874.Also his family spoke Polish and the draft card personnel probably did not. On this 1918 draft card his address his employer was Adam Karr of the Karr Range Company in Belleville. He was a stove molder. The Karr Range Company was located at the site of the former Richland Foundry which was leased to Karr Range Company. It was located at Centreville Ave and the IC tracks in Belleville, southwest of downtown .

Further research finds Edward's mother, Anna Trojanowska Kantorska, was born on 4/22/1840 in Ligowo, Poland.Anna's parents were Jozef Trojanowski (born 1815 in Malusyn, Gojsk, Poland) and Anna Kesicka (born in Ligowo in 1812). Jozef Trojanowski's parents were Jan Trojanowski and Elzbieta Sulkowska (years of birth unknown). Anna had two sisters, Teofila (date of birth unknown but it is thought she was older than Anna) and Franciszka born 3/8/1842.
Further research also finds Edward's father, Julius Kantorski, was born 4/1/1841 in Sokolowo. Julius' father was Stefan (who died 1841 in Sokolowo) and his mother was Barbara Brojskiewicz.(From Dulsk parish---- www.szpejankowski.eu/index.php/pl/metryki-wkazy-osob/102.html).
